This is our 3rd central vac system, so I'm familiar with them. Our first house, I installed the system and it lasted many years until the motors went out and the motors were no longer made. I replaced it with a Beam which we loved but had to replace the motor 4 years later which was under warranty, The Beam was easy to clean and the filter was up in the unit which made it easier to get the trash bag around the outside to shake the filter bag clean. Also, the container that catches the dirt was a twist off/on type. We had installed in our new house the Element and it is quite and has very good suction. I don't like the two clips that it uses to hold the plastic dirt container on. I'm always afraid I'm going to drop the container. I don't like the way the filter bag hangs down when you remove the container. When you take the plastic container off, you have to be careful not to knock any dirt off the filter bag. With the way it hangs down, you have to be careful on wrapping the trash bag around the bottom so that you don't knock any dirt off of it to the floor. The first time I did empty and clean the bag filter, I had a hard time aligning the plastic container with the rubber gasket that is on the central vac unit and doing the clips at the same time. The 2nd time I did it, things went a little better.

We had a Vac U Flow system in our previous house. It had plenty of suction, my only dislike of the unit was having to drag the long hose from connection to conection. In 2019 we built a new house, was asked if I wanted central vaccum and said no. They told me about a new system with hoses in the wall. I finally agreed to it. I was very disappointed at first, everytime I vaccumed the powerhead when pull off the hose, no matter how hard I pushed the powerhead on the hose. I left a bad review on this site about the problem nd provided our installers name. Quickly after that the installer was at our house regarding the problem. He took pictures of the powerhead and sent to the company. Turns out, the powerhead had been updated. I was sent a new head at no charge and the system is the BEST!!! The cost was worth every penny. Great customer service, would install this system again. THANKS

Excellent product. Easy to install DIY. We like that it's bagless. This is our third built-in in 27 years (after NuTone and DrainVac) and this one is the most powerful. Don't think we'll need another one.

Our 1987-vintage house had a central vac when we bought it around 2002. Had never had that in previous homes and thought it great. A year or so ago the old vac started to die from old age and we replaced it with an Element, which seems to be the only brand (with service) available in our area. The new one is a good deal more powerful than the old and has a larger dust bin and, of course, works reliably. I get the impression that central vacs are not as fashionable as in the past, but would not want to be without it. Every other vacuum I used before eventually started to smell when running. This does not because the collection bin is in the garage -- and so is the noise.
